Masks are still required in healthcare facilities per OAR 333-019-1011. This applies to all patients, staff, and visitors.
A Message to our Patients:
The past 2 years have been difficult, but despite the challenges, we have been able to continue to provide sight-saving eye care while keeping our patients and staff healthy and safe. Thank you to everyone for your hard work, patience, and dedication to our shared endeavor. We are hopeful that as vaccination rates continue to improve, we will soon reach a state of calm and normalcy. In the meantime, we are committed to taking measures to ensure your safety, and our policies to reduce the risk of disease transmission and exposure remain in place.

The majority of our appointments are important to the preservation of vision, and we are encouraging our patients to keep their scheduled appointments. If you previously cancelled an appointment due to the COVID threat, please contact our office to discuss a plan for rescheduling.
Also, if one or more of the following applies to you, please call our office prior to your appointment:
- You have tested positive for COVID or have had a fever, sore throat, cough, loss of smell or taste, or other respiratory symptoms within the last 14 days.
- You have been directly exposed to someone with known or suspected COVID-19.
- You are at high risk for complications relating to the possible development of COVID-19 (e.g., patients of advanced age or those with underlying medical conditions).
With regard to eye injection appointments, please read this statement from our providers:
“Eye injections are intended to reduce the risk of vision loss by temporarily suppressing disease activity. Delays in treatment beyond what has been recommended by your physician could potentially lead to permanent loss of vision. If a delay does occur, treatment can often be restarted and in some cases the vision may be at least partially restored; however, the exact degree of risk for each treatment delay is impossible to know up front. Each patient must make a personal decision regarding their risk of potential harm from infection exposure versus their risk of losing vision. If you do choose to keep your appointment, we will take all reasonable and known precautions to keep you safe during your visit.”
The following protocols have been put in place to protect both patients and our staff:
- If you prefer, you may call to check in from your car and wait there until you are called inside for your appointment.
- Anyone with signs of fever or respiratory illness should avoid entering our building.
- Please attempt to maintain social distancing unless you are involved in a necessary interaction with staff or providers.
- There will be no hand shaking between patients, staff, and providers.
- Physicians and staff members will be wearing masks.
- Until state mandates have been lifted, mask-wearing by patients and visitors will be required unless they have a doctor’s note indicating a medical exemption.
- Mask tops will be taped in order to prevent fogging of our diagnostic lenses and to reduce the risk of eye infection associated with our procedures.
- All Retina Consultants physicians and most staff members have been vaccinated for COVID-19.
