For New Patients

Welcome. You have been referred because of a problem with the retina or neighboring tissues. On your first visit, please allow about two hours. Additional time may be required if, on the day of your first visit, further diagnostic studies are necessary. In-office diagnostics include fluorescein angiography, optical coherence tomography, ocular ultrasonography, and micro-perimetry.

Comprehensive examination of the inner eye requires more intense dilation than you may have experienced before. For the safety of yourself and others, as well as your own liability, please bring a driver. To see our policies regarding the Department of Motor Vehicles, click here.

Some retina problems are of an urgent nature — such problems may be treated on the day of your visit. Treatments include laser photocoagulation, photodynamic therapy, and pharmaco-therapy of vitreo-retinal diseases. We work to make your retina care as convenient as possible, but non-urgent treatments are usually scheduled for another appointment. Should surgery be necessary, the Center for Outpatient Medicine (C.O.M.) on the campus of Salem Hospital has a fully equipped operating suite dedicated exclusively to vitreo-retinal surgery. At the C.O.M. specially trained nursing teams provide round the clock support.

Before your first visit, we would like you to fill out some forms to help us better understand how we can serve you. Below are links to these forms.
