Biography

Gary Servais was born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario. After receiving his bachelor of science in Biology from Lakehead University, he transferred to McMaster University where he completed his Doctor of Medicine Degree and residency in Ophthalmology. From there he traveled to the University of Iowa. Over the next five years at the University of Iowa he did research in retinal vascular disease and fellowship training in both medical and surgical retinal disease. After his training, he spent one year on faculty teaching and doing surgery. The Department of Ophthalmology, University of British Columbia offered him a faculty position where he spent the next 6 years as Associate Professor. In 1993, Dr. Servais joined Dr. Farmer's private practice in Salem where they formed Retina Consultants LLC. He also is on associate staff at Casey Eye Institute at OHSU. He loves Oregon and enjoys cycling, skiing, climbing, tennis and spending time with his wife and two sons.
