Biography

Sam Farmer was born in eastern Washington, and raised in Washington, California, Connecticut, and Switzerland. He received his B.A. from The Evergreen State College and his M.D. (with honors) from the University of Washington in 1979. Post-graduate education included an internship in the Department of Surgery, University of Washington, a year of research into central visual pathways in the laboratory of Robert Rodieck, a residency in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Washington, and a fellowship in vitreo-retinal diseases at the University of Iowa. He has been in private practice in Salem since 1986, though he has an academic affiliation with the Casey Eye Institute, Oregon Health and Sciences University.
